Pope John Paul II in his letter to Women (1995) stated that “through the insight which is so much a part of your womanhood you enrich the world’s understanding and help to make human relations more honest and authentic”.
From this statement we can aptly confirm that Ladies do play a significant role in modern society and in the life of the Catholic Church as well.
The Maronite Ladies of the Gospel live this role seriously drawing inspiration from their motto: ‘At the service of the Gospel’ (Rm 1:2). They work together to coordinate activities ranging from the spiritual to the social and charitable, thus concretely realizing this objective.
The Association was formally established in 2002, under the patronage of His Excellency, Bishop Ad Abikaram but their services to the Maronite community extend far beyond those years. The Maronite Ladies of the Gospel undertake many social, spiritual and charitable activities to fulfil their role in supporting philanthropic organisations, in Lebanon, Australia and the world.
Vision Statement
The Ladies of the Gospel are called by God to be at the “Service of the Gospel”.
Mission Statement
The Maronite Ladies of the Gospel keep in focus their call to serve the Maronite Community in its diocesan, social and spiritual projects.
Roles and Objectives
The members of the Association play a vital role in the Maronite community and focus their attention on realising the objectives of the committee through assisting organisations that deal with social justice issues and education.
The Maronite Church in Australia, in its full history, has truly experienced the ‘genius of women’ and ‘full truth about women’ has been revealed through their objectives, goals and functions ranging from their own families, to the Maronite community and even to the world.
